As a bare bones operation, our efforts have always been focused on one objective: the work. The work is where we funnel our time, energy and donations. It’s where we live and thrive. In a word, it’s home. Yet there are drawbacks to that type of tunnel vision. Namely, it has the potential to give the impression that we are not present and accounted for. Rest assured, this is not, and never has been, the case.

COVID related delays have become a commonplace occurrence for many organizations, and The LDICP is not immune to that insidious virus. Fundraising was – and continues to be – a difficult, daunting task, and like so many other nonprofits, we struggled to keep our heads above water in 2020. In practical terms, it means we faced several unexpected slow downs and setbacks. But while the pandemic did force us to pump the breaks, our current project, which focuses on closing the loophole in the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, is still very much alive and in progress. We never lost sight of our goals, and we have been working – oftentimes silently – to close the gaps that exist in our current legislation.

In other words, we are still here. We are still working with that same, laser-like focus, and we will continue to be here and dedicate ourselves to the work for as long as we possibly can.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.
